Homesteading on their urban-styled farm outside of Charlestown, SC, Rustin and Teresa Gooden have learned lessons in the value of keeping things small, slow, and simple. Their handcrafted sea salt from Bulls Bay Saltworks uses only the pristine water sourced locally from Cape Romain, a protected Class 1 Wliderness Area, given to only 156 locations in the US under the Clean Air Act. The salt is harvested using solar power and grown in a non-reactive container leaving no metallic aftertaste. This sea salt is then smoked with oak cut from the Gooden's homestead. The complex taste of these beautifully dark crystals are a delightful additon to chili, rice, grilled meat, fish, fresh cheese, and eggs. Use this salt in a grinder as it is coarse. The Gooden's commitment to the environment ensures they will continue to be leaders in setting high standards for natural salt products.
