Jim and Darcy Michener love the wilderness. And that is where the “accident” occurred. On a cold April morning in a remote Alaskan cabin, on the woodstove, sat a pan of water. Water with sea salt crystals. Their curiosity could not resist the discovery and they were drawn to create more. So, back home in Sitka, Alaska, they experimented, and experimented, and experimented. For years they lugged sea water, tested, refined batch after batch until, after much trial and error and diligence, they succeeded in their desire-turned-passion to make the first flake-style salt in North America. Their beautiful flakes are deliciously clean-flavored, crisp, fresh with a touch of sweet, without a drop of bitterness.
We are very excited to include their labor of love, Alaska Pure Wild Blueberry Sea Salt, in the Salt Traders range of products. Hand-crafted from the pristine waters of the Gulf of Alaska, we know you will fall in love as the Michener’s did.
Alaska Pure Wild Blueberry Sea Salt is a beautiful, rich purple flake salt made with wild blueberries. Sprinkle on pork, chicken, turkey, duck, rice dishes, rice salad, fruit, cottage cheese, or vanilla ice cream. Use it to rim a cocktail; try a Blueberry Mojito!

Salt is good - blueberry can't taste

The salt is a great taste, but the "hint" of blueberry can't be found by myself. Others say they taste it, but I can't seem to find any hint of blueberry.

This salt is gorgeous to look at and a sprinkle is great on homemade ice cream. Love sweet and salty combinations.
