Zanzibar Black Pepper - Organic
It is with much excitement and anticipation that we are adding a new pepper with its own unique flavor profile to our peppercorn family: Organically grown Zanzibar peppercorns. These peppercorns are richly flavored with an undercurrent of cacao, along with that classic pepper fruity-heat. Like a nice warm cup of cocoa with a spark. Not your average peppercorn. Enjoy it on everything, but try it on simple dishes to get to know its flavors. Easy food like eggs, a sauteed fish fillet, roasted vegetables, a slice of pineapple or melon, bread and butter. It is ready for experimentation. The peppercorns are nice and zippy, but not overpoweringly so. Slightly milder than our delicious Wynad, this is one you might like to try if you want a berry with good heat, smoothness, and fruitiness.
Zanzibar peppercorns are organically grown amidst cloves and cinnamon. Our peppercorns come from a cooperative of small farmers on the Zanzibar Islands. Like our Wynad, Zanzibar peppercorns remain on the vine to ripen longer to an orange-red hue (not the typical green, when most peppercorns are harvested). The peppercorns are then hand-picked and sun-dried. This extra ripening gives the pepper its lingering, intricate flavor.

For best flavor and potency when not using, keep peppercorns tightly closed in a cool, dark cupboard, away from direct heat or sunlight.
